In order to help their clients to live a life of harmony, reduce or eliminate harmful habits, reduce pain or recover from traumatic events occurred in their past, potential hypnotherapists attend hypnotherapy training. They learn ways to deal with changes in behavior, weight or smoking problems, phobias, sleep issues, lack of performance or even past life regression.

Hypnotherapy area keep expanding and the training is focused on behavioral hypnosis, sports, business and education hypnosis, dental and medical hypnosis, forensic hypnosis, etc and it is a tool used in psychology.

This therapy training could be advanced, intermediate or basic and it ranges from small individual courses to 4-year postgraduate studies. The certificate can be acquired following weekend classes, distance learning, residential intensive format or apprentice training. Students may opt to improve their knowledge attending courses like Counseling or Life Coaching.

Hypnotherapy schools are under the state regulation in which they activate. It’s best to find one that is state-approved and after graduation it is best to seek for the state’s rules and regulations for practicing hypnotherapy. At present, licensing for practicing hypnotists is not a requirement.

These kind of complementary therapies are very appreciated nowadays because of their ‘natural’ intervention instead of medication. Hypnotherapy is one of them, as it does not affect the client’s or the patient’s mind or body using medication or other substances; it relies on the power of your own mind to discover and alleviate pain or fears.

At present, this therapy is not a regulated profession, therefore anyone can just start to practice it even they have no studies in this way. Although, without any proper resources it is unlikely to survive in this area of practicing as recommendations from clients are very important for the hypnotherapist’s survival.

How to take people safe into and out of the hypnosis is what a course should definitely teach you. But this is easy job and anyone can learn how to do it with minimum requirements. It doesn’t mean that you’re a hypnotherapist if you know how to hypnotize though – that’s where the quality of the training stands.

Alongside hypnosis, a good course should:

– Help you decide on what style of therapy the client needs

– Makes you understand how human psyche ‘works’

– Show you how to act if unexpected happens

– Teach you how to promote your business

– Give you the ability for registration with a known professional association

– Offer postgraduate support

As you may already imagine, there’s rather more to learn than in a weekend course, following the above criteria’s and should be obvious that attending a good course is the best thing you can do for your business.

A good course has about 120 hours within the classroom (comprising both theory and practical, spread over around 10 months) and more than 450 hours of study at home.  After graduation, you can always add more to your knowledge, as there are many good opportunities to improve your skills and take you to higher levels in this fascinating area.
